On January 2-4, approximately 20,000 students packed Philips Arena in Atlanta for one of the most anticipated annual collegiate events – the Passion Conference. Louie Giglio, John Piper, Francis Chan, Ben Stuart, and Carl Lentz preached the Gospel with relentless ambition while artists like Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin, and David Crowder led students in a powerful weekend of worship. The event was repeated again in Atlanta on January 16-18 and a third time in Houston January 30-February 1.
In the Saturday afternoon sessions at each conference, Passion revealed a new initiative with e3 Partners. After showing a powerful video that shared the story of our MECA team’s work with the Druze people, the Passion team called on students to participate in a campaign that would fund e3 Partners’ effort to reach ten unengaged people groups. The initiative has the ability to impact 19 million people with the Gospel over the next several years.
Between the three conferences, students gave above and beyond what was initially expected. In addition to giving towards the original ten people groups, another four were added to the list!
Under the leadership of Louie Giglio, Passion has impacted millions of college students since its inception in 1997. Their events draw tens of thousands of students, coming from all over the United States and around the world. With the conviction that worshiping God includes seeking justice for the world, Passion attendees have raised over $14 million for partner organizations since 2007. Funds in the past have been used for human trafficking prevention, clean water initiatives, and a variety of evangelistic projects. This Passion 2015 project is the first to solely focus on unengaged people groups. What an honor to work with this great ministry! The Passion 2015 project is the first one to solely focus on unengaged people groups.
In the coming months and years, e3 Partners will be taking the Gospel into each of these unreached and unengaged groups. Want to join the mission? Click here to learn how you can go!
