Brett Flagg first met his wife, Lisa, when they were just teenagers. She was 15 and he was 16 – high school sweethearts with a lifelong bond. They dated through their college years at Baylor University and were married soon after Lisa’s graduation. Back then, it was hard to imagine everything God would do in the decades that followed.
In their 33 years of marriage, God has blessed them with two children. Their son, Baker, is a Army Captain at Fort Hood, TX with the first Cavalry Division while their daughter, Haley, completes her Ph.D at Saint Andrews University in Scotland. In those years, Brett also established his own law firm, Flagg Law Group, specializing in business law and estate planning. After receiving his Bachelors and Law degree at Baylor, he earned a Masters of Tax from Georgetown University.
As someone who serves high net wealth individuals in developing long-term financial plans, Brett has an appreciation for lives well-invested. Both he and Lisa are members at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, TX where they actively mentor other couples through their home group. Meanwhile, Lisa leads a ministry within the church focused on discipling young mothers.
The Flaggs are also long time supporters of missions. They started as monthly staff supporters and eventually began supporting other areas of e3 Partners. But Brett encourages families to consider other ways of making a financial impact, namely through planned giving.
In addition to his monthly and annual support of the e3 Partners, Brett has taken out a life insurance policy that benefits the ministry. It’s one of many ways families can leave a financial legacy that continues generations after their passing. Through his practice, he has seen families make a tremendous impact through provisions in their wills and trusts.
“It’s a way to leverage a relatively small investment for the benefit of e3 Partners,” remarks Brett.
What began as a simple monthly donation has transformed into a central part of the Flagg family’s life, one that will exceed their time together on this Earth. Whether in your 20s or preparing for retirement, there are many ways to leverage your finances to make an eternal difference.
